MCCONNELL/HAUSER is a boutique film and video production company based in New York City and Los Angeles, producing narrative and documentary films, TV commercials, music videos, and digital branded content since 2005. Partners Sam McConnell and Lukas Hauser collaborate with skilled teams of writers, producers, cinematographers and editors on either coast or on location beyond. We work closely with our clients through the entire process of transforming ideas into compelling visual storytelling: concept development, pre-production, filming, and post-production.

Lukas Hauser
Lukas Hauser directed the award-winning film BELOW SURFACE which aired on A&E Networks and has edited several HBO documentaries. THE BLACK LIST featuring Toni Morrison and Chris Rock, which he edited, won an NAACP Image Award and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He holds an MFA from Columbia University and a BA from Brown University
Sam McConnell
Sam McConnell is a writer, director, and producer and partner in the New York and Los Angeles based production company, McConnell / Hauser. Their work spans narrative and documentary films, commercials, web series, music videos, PSAs, and video art installations. Sam has directed five short films (Horseyboy, Seeing you In Circles, Twoyoungmen, UT., The Hunter, and BRUTAL) all of which have played in festivals across the country and internationally. Sam has produced two acclaimed HBO documentaries exploring identity: The Out List (2013, featuring Ellen Degeneres, Larry Kramer, Cynthia Nixon, and Neil Patrick Harris) and The Trans List (2016, featuring Laverne Cox and Janet Mock,) both with director Timothy Greenfield-Sanders. Under the McConnell / Hauser banner he directed and produced the feature-length documentary Camp RicStar (2024, co-produced, written, and edited by Lukas Hauser) about the life-changing music therapy camp for kids with disabilities. Sam has completed Ryan Murphy's Half Initiative director mentorship program, and holds a BA and MFA from Columbia University in New York.
